The Los Fresnos Housing Authority shares the mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): To create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. Also, work to strengthen the housing market, to bolster the economy and protect consumers, meet the need for quality affordable rental homes, utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life, and build inclusive and sustainable communities free form discrimination.

LFHA provides rent-subsidized, government-owned units through the Public Housing Program for low-income individuals and families who meet eligibility requirements.

LFHA provides Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program to assist low-income individuals and families, in securing affordable housing in the private market. A subsidy is paid directly to landlords, while participants pay the remaining portion of the rent.

The Los Fresnos Housing Authority (LFHA) invites public comment on proposed amendments to the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP) and Housing Choice Voucher Administrative Plan related to the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016 (HOTMA).
A public hearing will be held on March 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the LFHA office, 500 N. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, TX 78566.
Draft documents will be available for public review February 4–March 21, 2026, at the LFHA office and online at www.LosFresnosHA.net.
Written comments labeled “HOTMA Changes/Revision” may be submitted by mail to LFHA at the above address or by email to contact@LosFresnosHA.net by March 21, 2026. Comments will be considered prior to Board adoption.
Los Fresnos Housing Authority operates in accordance with the regulations and policies of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), as well as applicable local and state authorities. The following items are currently out for procurement:

The Los Fresnos Housing Authority will receive bids for KITCHEN RENOVATION AND IMPROVEMENT WORK AT HIBISCUS HOUSING UNIT SUBDIVISION until 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Chief Executive Director’s Office, 500 N. Arroyo, Los Fresnos, Texas 78566 at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting shall be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. located at 500 North Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas.
Plans and Specifications will be available beginning January 29, 2026 (Electronically Only) from GMS Architect, 956-546-0110. An Authorization and Waiver for Release of Electronic Files form will need to be submitted before links can be provided. A proposal security in the form of a certified cashier’s check or bid bond issued by a certified surety company in the amount of 5% of the proposal shall accompany the proposal at the time of bid. Bid bond submission shall include the original certificate with embossed corporation seal. Failure to include the stamped corporation seal shall result in the rejection of the bid. No photocopies of the surety bond stamped corporation seal will be allowed. The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory performance and payment bond or bonds. Performance and Payment Bonds are not required for bids under $50,000.00.
Attention is called to the provisions for equal employment opportunity, and payment of not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Specifications must be paid on this project.
The Los Fresnos Housing Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informality in the bidding. No bids shall be withdrawn for a period of 30 days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Los Fresnos Housing Authority.

The Los Fresnos Housing Authority administers two programs: the Public Housing Program and the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8).

Applications are given out Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Please note that availability depends on whether the program is open or closed at the time.

Eligibility for housing programs is based on household income, family composition, citizenship status, and background history. Applicants must meet HUD income limits, have at least one U. S. citizen or eligible immigrants in the household, and maintain a good rental record.
