Our Mission
The Los Fresnos Housing Authority shares the mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): To create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. Also, work to strengthen the housing market, to bolster the economy and protect consumers, meet the need for quality affordable rental homes, utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life, and build inclusive and sustainable communities free form discrimination.

LFHA provides rent-subsidized, government-owned units through the Public Housing Program for low-income individuals and families who meet eligibility requirements.

LFHA provides Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program to assist low-income individuals and families, in securing affordable housing in the private market. A subsidy is paid directly to landlords, while participants pay the remaining portion of the rent.

Public Notice
Los Fresnos Housing Authority Announces a Public Hearing
The Los Fresnos Housing Authority (LFHA) will hold a public hearing on June 3, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Los Fresnos Housing Authority, 500 N. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, TX 78566 to receive comments from residents and the general public regarding the following documents:
- Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Annual Plan
- Five‑Year PHA Plan (2027–2031)
These plans will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Estimated funding for the upcoming fiscal year includes $156,937 in Operating Funds and $115,898 in Capital Funds. All residents and member of the public are encouraged to attend this hearing. Copies of the draft plans will be available for public review from April 15, 2026 through May 30, 2026, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the address above.

The Los Fresnos Housing Authority administers two programs: the Public Housing Program and the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8).
La Autoridad de Vivienda de Los Fresnos (LFHA, por sus siglas en inglés) administra dos programas: el Programa de Vivienda Pública (Public Housing Program) y el Programa de Vales de Elección de Vivienda (Housing Choice Voucher Program), también conocido como Sección 8 (Section 8).
Applications are given out Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Please note that availability depends on whether the program is open or closed at the time.

Eligibility for housing programs is based on household income, family composition, citizenship status, and background history. Applicants must meet HUD income limits, have at least one U. S. citizen or eligible immigrants in the household, and maintain a good rental record.
